Short answer

A fake Omega Aqua Terra 150m copy is a replica of the Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M. It copies the case shape, dial pattern, and bracelet. It does not use an Omega movement, does not carry METAS Master Chronometer certification, and does not hold a tested 150m depth rating. Street prices run from about $80 to $500. The genuine watch sells for about $6,000 new.

What the genuine watch is

Omega builds the Aqua Terra 150M in 34mm, 38mm, and 41mm case sizes. The 41mm case is about 13.2mm thick. Genuine models run Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibres 8900 (41mm) and 8800 (34mm and 38mm). METAS certifies each movement to 0/+5 seconds per day and 15,000 gauss magnetic resistance. The dial carries horizontal teak deck lines and a date window at 6 o'clock. Sapphire crystal front and back. The 150m rating is tested under ISO 22810.

What replicas copy

  • Case profile and lug shape, machined from 316L or 904L steel.
  • Teak deck dial lines, applied indices, and printed logos.
  • Date window position. Most replicas place it at 3 o'clock because of the movement, not at 6.
  • Bracelet style, butterfly clasp, and end link fit.
  • Caseback engraving, including the seahorse and reference text.

Movements in replicas

Three movements show up in these builds. The Seiko NH35 is the common choice at low prices. It has a 41-hour power reserve and a date at 3 o'clock. The Miyota 9015 adds a thinner profile and a 42-hour reserve, also with date at 3. The A2824-2 clone sits in the mid tier and takes decorative rotor plates. Some sellers list a "clone 8900." That label covers a decorated A2824 or a Chinese copy, not an Omega calibre. Ask for the movement name in writing.

Water resistance reality

The 150m mark is a genuine spec on the real watch. Replica cases are not pressure tested. Gaskets are thin, caseback seals are uneven, and crown threads vary. Treat any replica as splash resistant at best. Do not swim with one.

Points to check before buying

  1. Date position: 6 o'clock on the real 41mm. Most fakes sit at 3.
  2. Dial texture: lines should be crisp, not soft or doubled under a loupe.
  3. Hand length: the minute hand should reach the minute track.
  4. Lume: index fill should sit level in the frame.
  5. Bracelet play: check the clasp and the link screws.
  6. Weight: a 41mm steel Aqua Terra is about 150g on the bracelet.

Legal and disclosure note

A replica is not a genuine Omega. Selling one as genuine is trademark infringement and fraud in the US. Sellers must describe the item as a replica. Resale value is close to zero, and Omega service centers do not work on replicas.

What is unknown

Factory names change and builds vary between batches. Specs listed by sellers are not verifiable. Ask for photos of the actual unit and the movement before payment.
